Greenvalley Music is a private music studio in the hills of Laurel Canyon, offering singing circles, and piano and voice lessons. Students are supported in building essential skills while also being empowered to listen, create, and make music their own from the very beginning.
Founded by musician and educator Sarah M Silverman, Greenvalley Music reflects a lifelong engagement with music as both a disciplined craft and a living creative practice.
Sarah holds degrees from the Manhattan School of Music (MMus), the Glenn Gould School (BMus), and has completed all three levels of Somatic Voicework™ the LoVetri Method. Her work is shaped by a wide-ranging musical life as a classical and broadway pianist, jazz vocalist, composer, and arranger. In addition to her formal studies, she has also trained in Circlesong with Bobby McFerrin and creative practices with Kenny Werner. Her professional background includes work as a Teaching Artist with the Lincoln Center Institute, a piano examiner with the Royal Conservatory of Music, and faculty positions at the Diller-Quaile School of Music and the Third Street Music Settlement in New York.
Through private lessons and singing circles, Greenvalley Music supports students of all ages in developing confidence, musical fluency, and a deep, lasting relationship with music.
Lessons
Private lessons are tailored to each student and grounded in Sarah’s balanced, playful teaching philosophy. Drawing from classical and jazz traditions, Somatic Voicework™ , and meditative improvisation practices, students are encouraged to listen deeply, trust their bodies, and develop a personal relationship with sound.
All ages and levels are welcome. To inquire about lessons and to book a free mini introductory session contact me HERE.
Every week Sarah sings with nearly 100 children across the Lookout Mountain and Christopher Robin schools, as well as in the Greenvalley Music studio.
In these circles, songs are shared orally — rounds, call-and-response songs, folk melodies, poems, and rhymes — passed down through generations and carried in the body. Participants sing, move, clap, stomp, and breathe together, creating music that is communal, embodied, and deeply human.
Singing Circles are for all voices and all ages - from toddlers to grandparents! To book a private circle for your group you can contact me HERE.
