Musical Warm Up

Beginning any practice session, writing session, or piano lesson with a musical warm up, is a wonderful way to drop into a creative space and allow yourself time to simply play and explore.

These videos help guide you through three different ways to approach this practice.

Free Play

This is a chance to let your fingers wander freely around the keyboard. A time to play without judgement, and to discover surprising new sounds.

Poetry

Choose a favorite poem and speak it aloud while your fingers gently noodle on the keys. The goal isn’t to match rhythm or melody — simply let sound and language dance together freely.

Box Breathing

This practice blends mindful breathing with sound exploration. As you noodle, follow this gentle cycle:

Inhale for 4 counts Hold for 4 counts Exhale for 4 counts Hold for 4 counts
